Niagara Rapid Rinse Accessory with Gilson 223 Autosampler Kit

Includes:

  • 24V DC regulated power supply
  • 1.5m tubing
  • 4 Plangeless 1/4 inch fittings
  • Adjustable mounting bracket
  • Power cable
  • Autosampler communication kit

Benefits:

  • Halve your operating costs
  • Reduce your environmental footprint
  • Double you sample throughput
  • The Niagara Plus uses Flow Injection technology to reduce analysis time, environmental impact and operating cost:
  • Lower argon consumption
  • Reduced cost of consumables such as torches, cones,RF coils, pump tubing, acids, standards and chemicals
  • Lower power consumption
  • Reduced stress on RF system and lower maintenance cost
  • Less down-time for cleaning carbon from torch when analyzing organics
  • Less chemical waste to dispose of

In addition to the cost and environmental benefits, the Niagara Plus delivers a major improvement in analytical performance:

  • Twice the sample throughput for a typical analysis
  • Half the normal sample volume
  • Automatic addition of the internal standard simplifies sample preparation
  • Inert sample path reduces carryover - the sample does not contact any peristaltic pump tubing
  • Constant flow of solution to the plasma maintains plasma stability and reduces stabilization times
  • Compact design easily interfaces to almost all models of ICP-MS and ICP-OES

The Niagara Plus provides enhanced performance through unique design features:

  • Bubble Injector: The Niagara Plus automatically injects several air bubbles at the end of the sample plug while filling the sample loop. These air bubbles prevent boundary diffusion and do not allow the sample to mix with the carrier solution. This allows a smaller volume of sample to be used and further reduces the analysis time. Because the bubbles are injected at a programmed time they are never introduced into your nebulizer, thus avoiding any plasma disturbances.
  • Time In Sample (TIS) option: This feature allows you to program the time the autosampler probe sits in the sample tube, instead of waiting until the loop is filled. This prevents the sample in the uptake lines from being wasted, further reducing the amount of sample consumed. Combining the Bubble injector and TIS the Niagara Plus can save up to 55% of the sample compared to a system without these features.
  • Built-in internal standard tee: This low volume removable mixing tee allows the operator to tee in diluent or internal standard without significantly lengthening either the equilibration time or washout time. If you select not to tee in an internal standard or diluent, the tee can simply be removed from the valve.

The Niagara Plus requires a 1.0mm ID autosampler probe for correct operation. Select one of the following probes:

  • 70-803-0793    PTFE Encapsulated Carbon Fibre Probe 1.0mm ID (suitable for Cetac ASX-520)
  • 70-803-0916    PTFE Encapsulated Carbon Fibre Probe 1.0mm ID (suitable for PerkinElmer S-10 or AS-93+)
  • 70-803-0853    PTFE Encapsulated Carbon Fibre Probe 1.0mm ID (suitable for Varian SPS-3 or AIM-3600)
  • 60-703-0533    PTFE Encapsulated Carbon Fibre Probe 1.0mm ID (suitable for Agilent I-AS)

The Niagara Plus package includes:

  • Niagara II module
  • Positive displacement pump
  • Adjustable mounting bracket
  • USB to quad serial converter
  • All required cables and tubing
  • USB memory stick with operating software and instructions
  • Netbook computer
  • Samples typically analyzed in an hour.

Typical cycle time for Niagara Plus compared with standard ICP system.

Step 1 - Fill loop
The positive displacement piston pump rapidly fills the sample loop. At the same time, rinse and internal standard solutions are delivered to the nebulizer, washing out the nebulizer and spray chamber, and ensuring that plasma stability is maintained.

Step 2 - Aspirate sample
The Niagara valve switches position so that the rinse solution pushes the sample into the nebulizer. The internal standard is mixed with the sample within the valve. At the same time, the autosampler probe and sample uptake tubing are rinsed by the piston pump. Note that the sample does not contact the peristaltic pump tubing at any time.
