  • 100 Å
  • 0.52 cc/g
  • 208 m2/g
  • Type A Silica and Bonded Phases
  • Alternative to Spherisorb
  • Available in 1.5, 3, 5 and 10 μm particle sizes
  • Widest range of bonded phases

The original Exsil 100 range was developed to provide an alternative to Spherisorb type products. The extensive range of bonded phases includes novel phases such as the ODS-B and Octyl-B which are so deactivated that they can chromatograph strong bases in buffer free eluents. The range of phases continues to provide a comprehensive selection for all standard applications.

These columns utilize an ODS (Octadecylsilyl) stationary phase, which is a type of reversed-phase column commonly used for separating a wide range of compounds. Exsil ODS columns are designed as alternatives to the classic spherical HPLC silicas like Spherisorb.

This column utilizes a bonded octadecylsilyl (ODS) stationary phase on a silica support, with enhanced deactivation (AB designation) to improve its performance with acidic, neutral, and basic compounds.

  • ODS Phase: The column's stationary phase is based on C18 (octadecylsilyl), a common reversed-phase material, providing hydrophobic interactions with analytes.
  • Deactivation: The "AB" designation indicates a higher degree of deactivation compared to standard ODS phases. This enhanced deactivation minimizes interactions with acidic or basic functional groups on the silica support, leading to better peak shape and resolution, particularly for polar and ionizable compounds.
  • pH Range: Exsil ODS-AB columns are typically recommended for use within a pH range of 2 to 7.
  • Applications: They are suitable for a wide range of applications, including the analysis of acidic, neutral, and basic compounds without the need for strict buffer or additive restrictions. They are used in various fields, including pharmaceutical analysis, environmental monitoring, and food chemistry.
  • Alternatives: They are often used as an alternative to classical spherical HPLC silicas and can be a good substitute for Spherisorb columns.
  • Exsil 100: Columns with a pore size of 100 Å Angstroms (10 nm)
