Product Number: P77011
Weight: 7.10 LBS
HL - Hard Layer organic binder
F - Fluorescent indicator UV254. (Can be added to any adsorbent.)
These plates use a 150 Angstrom pore silica gel. Its polarity is slightly less than the standard 60 Angstrom pore TLC plates. It may be necessary to reduce the polarity of the mobile phase to obtain equivalent separation. However, this decrease produces greater separation in the higher Rf regions of the plate while maintaining resolution in the lower zones. They are suitable for moderately to strongly polar compounds.
The 150A Silica Gel plates use an organic polymer binder which results in a stable, abrasion resistant surface. The moderately hard surface offers easier handling and simplifies sample application. It can be written upon with a dull lead pencil. The 150A Silica Gel plates are compatible with most organic solvents and will tolerate approximately 70-80% water in the mobile phase. They are compatible with most visualization reagents but are not recommended for aggressive techniques such as sulfuric acid charring. Layers are available with and without a UV254 fluorescent indicator. A variety of sizes is available.

General Description:
Best layer choice unless contra-indicated by noted incompatibilities of visualization reagents or mobile phase composition. Hard layer organic binder system is the most rugged, providing easy handling of layer during sample application, mobile phase development, visualization and data interpretation. Rugged layer surface provides consistent results independent of operator technique. Quick development times and uniform visualization properties provide lot-to-lot consistency and reduce seasonal variability in chromatography.
Hard Layer Silica Gel HL & HLF UNIPLATES™ (Organic Binder)
These are the most rugged silica gel plates available. They not only ease handling and sample application, but also permit the use of up to 80% water in the developing solvent without loss of adherence of the adsorbent layer to the glass plate. Organic binder plates are recommended for all TLC applications except those that use vigorous charring for visualization. Virtually all other visualization methods are free from interference from the organic binder.
Hard Layer Silica Gel UNIPLATES represent an advancement in thin layer adsorbent technology. Special high performance silica gel with small average diameter and narrow particle size distribution results in separations 25% to 30% faster than with most other TLC plates. Separated spots are more compact and better resolved, which allows visualization at lower sample levels. The enhanced abrasion resistance means easier handling and sample application because plate surface gouging is virtually eliminated. Analtech Hard Layer UNIPLATES are available with either organic or inorganic binders. Binder choice has little effect on the adsorptive properties of the adsorbent layer.
