Magnesium Acetate (%) Modified Silica Gel H & HF UNIPLATES™

These Silica Gel H UNIPLATES are prepared with 5%, 7.5%, or 10% magnesium acetate as the slurry liquid. The addition of magnesium acetate decreases the acidity of the layer and allows increased discrimination of phospholipids. The concentration of magnesium acetate added to the layer must be specified at the time of order (7.5% is most commonly used)

Compatible with essentially all visualization reagents, even sulfuric acid charring. Spray reagent only. Dipping not recommended.

General Description:

Very soft surface as no binder is used to adhere the layer to the glass backing. Requires extra caution during use to prevent damage to the layer, which would affect chromatography. However, it is sometimes required when the separation being run is sensitive to any materials other than silica gel in the chromatographic process. Compatible with most mobile phases except water in excess of about 20%. Dip visualization procedures not recommended, but plates do tolerate gentle spray techniques.

Silica Gel H & HF UNIPLATES™ – Binder Free

Silica Gel H & HF UNIPLATES contain no calcium sulfate binder. The adsorbent contains a small amount of colloidal silica which aids in the adherence to the glass plate.
