Welch Materials Ultisil LP (Low pH) Columns

Welch Materials Ultisil LP (Low pH) columns are designed to resist strong acids (down to pH 0.5) and high temperatures. They achieve this using two bulky hydrophobic protective groups that prevent siloxane bond hydrolysis. Because they lack end-capping, they offer unique selectivity and superior retention for polar compounds compared to traditional columns.

Ultisil LP phases are extremely stable in very low pH mobile phases and at non-typical high temperatures. LP phases use two very bulky hydrophobic protective groups to prevent siloxane bond from hydrolysis at low pH. Excellent peak shape for polar compounds. Stable to UNDER pH = 1 (LP-C18).

LP-C18: The most polar C18 in the Welch portfolio, designed for exceptional stability with highly acidic mobile phases (e.g., 0.1% TFA). Ideal for separating polar impurities and water-soluble compounds.

LP-C8: Offers lower hydrophobicity than LP-C18 for faster elution of highly retained, non-polar compounds while maintaining excellent stability in low pH conditions.

LP-C3: A shorter-chain variation with USP L56 classification, comparable to phases like the Agilent Zorbax SB-C3.
