TrayCell® 2.0

Hellma TrayCell 105.800-UVS, PL 0.2 mm, Z

Product Number: 105800-A2-V1-46

Innovative Solution for the UV/Vis based DNA and Protein Analysis

Hellma Analytics produces a wide range of cuvettes for use in spectroscopy and cytometry with optical path lengths spanning 0.01 mm to 100 mm and above. Thanks to their stability, maximum precision and reliability when used for absorbance and fluorescence measurements, Hellma cuvettes work exceptionally well in a wide range of areas in the lab. With a surface flatness of 1 μm, our quartz windows set a benchmark in cuvette production.

What’s more, the function-optimized design with beveled edges and corners protects against the risk of damage caused by splitting and assists users in their daily work. On request, we are able to produce custom models designed for specific areas of application.

TrayCell® 2.0

TrayCell® 2.0 is a further development of Hellma’s successful ultra-micro sample-volume spectrometer cell TrayCell®.

The TrayCell® 2.0 micro volume measuring cell revolutionizes the UV / Vis analysis of very small volumes (0.7 μl - 10 μl). It is compatible with almost all common spectrophotometers, making the TrayCell® 2.0 ideal for measurements of DNA, RNA and proteins.

The optics of the measuring cell and the newly developed measuring head with PTFE coating can be cleaned quickly and easily, even while the TrayCell® 2.0 remains in the cuvette holder for subsequent measurements. This allows many handling advantages and guarantees a consistent positioning of the aperture in the measuring beam and thus no deviations compared to the reference measurement.

Extra dilutions of the sample are unnecessary, due to the easy switching to different path lengths (PL).  To change the path length, just change the cap.

The following dilutions, compared to a 10 mm cuvette, are possible with the TrayCell caps: 1:5 (PL 2 mm), 1:10 (PL 1 mm), 1:50 (PL 0.2 mm), 1: 100 (PL 0.1 mm).

High-tech on the smallest scale – this is what the TrayCell® 2.0 has to offer

  • Easy handling – TrayCell® 2.0 always stays in the cell holder
  • Excellent reproducibility of the measurement results
  • Suitable for almost all standard UV/Vis spectrometers
  • For sample volumes from 0.7 μl to 10 μl
  • Also suitable for samples with low surface tension
  • Different path lengths by means of exchangeable lids
  • Long-term precise measurement results without follow-up and maintenance costs

Product improvements with the TrayCell®  2.0

  • Measurement of samples with low surface tension now possible due to  a deepened measuring window
  • Samples remain in droplet shape and can simply be pipetted off and be reused.
  • The new, PTFE-coated metal head makes the TrayCell 2.0 much more robust, facilitates cleaning and enables a particularly simple and fast sample change
  • A new lid with a higher rim improves the handling

Applications

  • Purity and concentration determination of proteins
  • DNA / RNA purity and assay
  • All spectrophotometric microvolume measurements (0.7 μl-10 μl) in the UV / Vis range

TrayCell® 2.0 Product features

  • Strictly defined, precise path lengths: misadjustment impossible
  • Path lengths in delivery included: 1.0 mm and/or 0.2 mm
  • Additional path lengths: 2.0 mm and 0.1 mm (optional available)
  • Large measuring range from approx. 6 – 8,500 ng/μl (dsDNA) and approx. 0.1 – 100 mg/ml (protein)
  • Compact design: overall height including lid 61.5 mm (center height 8.5 mm)
  • Samples with low surface tension can be measured
  • Excellent reproducibility
  • Quick and easy to clean
  • Suitable for all current spectrophotometers with standard cuvette holder

What makes the TrayCell® 2.0 so special?

  • High-tech on the smallest scale - with a patented operating principle
  • The TrayCell® 2.0 comprises a fiber-optic measurement cell and a cap with integrated mirror. One drop (0.7 μl-10 μl) of the sample is pipetted onto the measuring window and then the corresponding cap with the selected path length is placed on top.
  • The light is guided via prism and optical fiber through the sample, reflected in the mirror and then guided via optical fiber and prism out of the TrayCell® 2.0 to the detector.
  • The precisely defined spacing between the window and the mirror inside the cap ensures a precise and permanently consistent optical path length. The TrayCell® 2.0 design makes expensive calibrations and readjustments unnecessary
