Hellma 540.114-QS Special Application Cell for Light Scattering Measurement, Quartz SUPRASIL® Glass, 200-2500 nm, 22000μl, 75 x 25 mm, 1/Pk

Product Number: 540-114-80

Hellma Analytics produces a wide range of cuvettes for use in spectroscopy and cytometry with optical path lengths spanning 0.01 mm to 100 mm and above. Thanks to their stability, maximum precision and reliability when used for absorbance and fluorescence measurements, Hellma cuvettes work exceptionally well in a wide range of areas in the lab. With a surface flatness of 1 μm, our quartz windows set a benchmark in cuvette production.

What’s more, the function-optimized design with beveled edges and corners protects against the risk of damage caused by splitting and assists users in their daily work. On request, we are able to produce custom models designed for specific areas of application.

Material Codes

Material Material Code Wavelength Refractive Index nd at 588 nm Type of spectrophotometer

Optical glass OG 360 nm - 2500 nm 1,523 for the visible range
OG indicates that "Optical Glass" is used for the window. Here we use a colorless highly transparent crown glass in the form of drawn panes with fire-polished surfaces. The quality of the surfaces is so high that the components can be fused using the Hellma process without further grinding and polishing. An empty cell made of optical glass will give a transmission of more than 80 % over a spectral range from 360 nm to 2500 nm.

Borofloat®
Borosilicate Glass
BF 330 nm - 2500 nm 1,473 for the visible range
BF indicates the cells entirely made from borosilicate glass, the composition and properties of which are laid down by an international standard. This type of glass possesses a high chemical resistance and a low thermal expansion coefficient making it particularly suitable for its use as laboratory glassware. For the windows of these cells we use a borosilicate glass manufactured using the float process. An empty cell made from this material has a transmission of greater than 80 % at a spectral range of between 330 nm and 2500 nm.

Special optical glass OS 320 nm - 2500 nm 1,523 for the visible range
OS indicates that “Special Optical Glass” is used for the window. This crown glass, specifically developed for Hellma, is made from exceptionally pure raw materials and gives improved transmission in the near ultraviolet range. An empty cell will give a transmission of more than    80 % over a spectral range from 320 nm to 2500 nm.

HOQ 310H
Quartz Glass
UV 260 nm - 2500 nm 1,458 for the UV range
UV indicates that “Quartz Glass” of highest purity and homogeneity is used for the window. These specially selected quartz glasses ensure transmission values of more than 80 % for a spectral range from 260 nm to 2500 nm for an empty cell.

Quartz SUPRASIL®
Quartz Glass High Performance
QS 200 nm - 2500 nm 1,458 for the UV range
QS indicates that “Quartz Glass High Performance” of the highest purity and homogeneity is used for the window. Because it is made from a silicon compound, it is also called synthetic quartz glass. We use specially selected quartz glasses which ensure transmission values of more than 82 % for a spectral range of 200 nm to 2500 nm for an empty cell.

Quartz SUPRASIL® 300
Quartz Glass Extended Range
QX 200 nm - 3500 nm 1,458 for the NIR range
QX indicates that “Quartz Glass Extended Range” of highest purity and homogeneity and free from OH absorption is used for the window. It is suitable for applications in the near infrared range up to approximately 4000 nm. We use specially selected quartz glasses which ensure transmission values of more than 82 % for a spectral range from 200 nm to 3500 nm for an empty cell.

Measuring of cuvette transmission

If required, cuvettes can be spectrally calibrated into sets with equal transmission values (measurement uncertainty
±1%). These cuvettes are given a three-digit calibration code containing coded data about the material and the transmission at a wavelength typical for the cuvette material.

Polarimetric checking of cuvettes

Cuvettes with an inside width greater than 5 mm can be polarimetrically checked on request. They are marked with a “P” and delivered with a test certificate confirming that the rotation of the polarization plane does not exceed
0.01 degrees.

ADVANTAGES

  • Extremely high parallelism of the windows with a maximum tolerance of ± 0.01 mm
  • Exceptional optical path length accuracy down to 0.003 mm (3 μm) for high dimensional accuracy and reproducible measurements results
  • Unique surface flatness of the optical windows of 0.001 mm (1 μm)
  • Very high temperature stability and chemical resistance due to thermal bonding of individual components (effectively monolithic)
  • Guaranteed transmission of at least 82% from 200 nm to 3500 nm depending on the material
