Shimadzu TOC-4000 Series Consumables

While TOC-5000 could be used for Online-TOC analysis, the industry called for a dedicated online TOC analyzer that could reliably analyze particle containing samples. Shimadzu's response was the release of the TOC-4000 online TOC analyzer in 1995. While it was not Shimadzu’s first Online TOC analyzer ever developed, it nevertheless was a breakthrough and shaped the reliability and effectiveness of all successor models to follow. It utilized the basic analytical setup of the TOC-5000, namely the 680°C combustion method with a reliable two-beam NDIR. The 4-port valve was expanded to 8-ports to allow, among other things, an automatic dilution function. Acidification and sparging was possible within the syringe pump, so that TOC analysis by the direct method could be realized in fully automatic fashion. A unique automatic sampling unit was designed to not only reliably remove particulate samples, but also to crush larger parts if necessary and to homogenize the sample. The system was equipped with an automatic water rinse to prevent cross-contamination between samples as well. An integrated system for gas purification allowed the unit to be operated with compressed air instead of high purity cylinder air.
