Tosoh's polymer-based gel filtration columns are either prepared from polymethacrylate resin (TSKgel PW, PWXL and PWXL-CP) or from hydroxylated polyvinyl (TSKgel Alpha and SuperAW) resin. Each resin type can be synthesized in a wide variety of different pore sizes. The four major product groups also differ from one another in average particle size. A more important distinction is, however, the range of solvents that can be used with each product line.
TSKgel PW columns are composed of spherical, hydrophilic polymethacrylate beads. Particle sizes range from 12 µm for the smaller pore size columns to 17 µm for the larger pore size columns.
The main application areas for TSKgel PW columns are the analysis of water-soluble polymers, such as celluloses, acrylamides, glycols, dextrans, polyvinylalcohol, and oligosaccharides.
The figure below shows the calibration curves for all TSKgel PW columns. Suitable solvents for various polymer samples are shown in the table below.
TSKgel G2000PW
TSKgel G2000PW columns are composed of spherical, hydrophilic polymethacrylate beads. These columns are ideally suited for analysis of water-soluble polymers, such as celluloses, acrylamides, glycols, dextrans, polyvinylalcohol, and oligosaccharides with molecular weights up to 2,000 Da. TSKgel G2000PW columns are most suitable for semi-preparative and preparative isolation of oligosaccharides.
Stable from pH 2 to 12, TSKgel G2000PW columns can be used in mobile phases of water or buffer (up to 20% methanol/80% aqueous) and can tolerate temperatures up to 80 °C.
