MaxPeak Premier Protein SEC 250Å 2.5 µm Guard Columns were developed to  help scientists extend the column life of either an ACQUITY Premier Protein SEC 250Å, 1.7 µm Column or an XBridge Premier Protein SEC 250Å, 2.5 µm Column without degrading desired separated component resolution. The useful lifetime of the guard column can be influenced by many factors including mobile phase cleanliness/microbial contaminatio , presence of sample precipitates/aggregates, working at extremes of pressure, pH, and/or temperature. Guard columns may need replacement if significant increase in column pressure is observed or if one sees wide tailing or split peaks.
