The SELECT SERIES MRT achieves groundbreaking Time-of-Flight (ToF) resolution with the innovative use of multiple reflections of the ion beam between two gridless electrostatic mirrors in the mass analyzer. This extends the ions’ flight path, spatially refocusing the ion packets through a series of periodic lenses after each reflection maintaining sensitivity.

The superior performance of the SELECT SERIES MRT results in high precision and routine part-per-billion mass accuracy independent of acquisition speed, providing unsurpassed quality of mass spectrometry data and information. The instrument is operated via the SELECT SERIES MassLynx acquisition system with simple and intuitive experimental setup, acquisition, and processing of mass spectrometry data for imaging experiments. Data is recorded in the widely deployed Waters .raw file format, which can easily be accessed via the MassLynx API, exported as (i)mzML, and other interchangeable data formats, ready to use in your data analysis strategy

This quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer can be paired with either the DESI XS source or the high-performance SELECT SERIES MALDI source, so you can utilize Full Spectrum Molecular Imaging (FSMI) in your experiments.

The complementary nature of these techniques enables different molecules to be ionized on the same tissue surface, pinpointing the spatial localization of a wide range of biomolecules and pharmaceutical compounds as they are desorbed from tissue sections. This provides superior accuracy for compound identification.

Confident biolocalization and identification

The accompanying video shows the differential spatial distributions of seven distinct, clearly resolved ions, all contained within a <150mDa window, that are easily visualized from a mouse brain tissue section. Redefining MALDI imaging

SELECT SERIES MRT with MALDIThe new high-performance MALDI source for the SELECT SERIES MRT improves both imaging performance and ease-of-use, enabling large tissue sections to be rapidly imaged at high spatial resolution, with improved selectivity and sensitivity. The novel source design uses a tightly focussed laser beam profile, increasing signal-to-noise at high spatial resolutions and providing lateral resolution of 15µm without oversampling, in addition to data acquisition rates >10 pixels per second. These features enable high intensity images to be acquired quickly and efficiently.
