The Large tablet & capsule disintegration apparatus, as listed in the European Pharmacopeia consists of a hanging basket assembly supporting three cylindrical transparent tubes of 77.5 ± 2.5mm long, 33.0mm ± 0.5 internal diameter, wall thickness of 2.5 ± 0.5mm. Cylinder discs, 31.4 ± 0.13mm in diameter and 15.3 ± 0.15mm thick and made of a transparent plastic with a relative density of 1.18 to 1.20 . Each disc is pierced by 7 holes, each 3.15 ± 0.1mm in diameter. One hole in the center and 6 equally spaced on a circle radius of 4.2mm. The tubes are held vertically by 2 separate plastic plates 97mm in diameter and 9mm thick, with 3 holes. The holes are equidistant from the center of the plate and equally placed. Within the lower plate are placed 3each 316L stainless steel wire mesh disc’s which are comprised of wire being 0.63 ± 0.03mm in diameter, and having a square aperture placement of 2.0 ± 0.2mm Both plates are held in position within 77.5mm apart by a vertical stainless steel rod which is attached to the connection point of the disintegration apparatus machine.
