Waters ACQUITY UPLC CSH130 C18 1.7 µm particles contain a low and carefully-defined concentration of positive charges that yield comparatively excellent peak shape for peptides using either FA- or TFA-containing mobile phases. The fact that the performance of a CSH130 C18 column exhibits little dependence on strong ion pairing agents makes it ideal for LC or LC-MS applications. This kit includes one ACQUITY UPLC CSH130 C18 column and one vial of Cytochrome C Digestion Standard (P/N 186006371). The standard is included to be able to immediately benchmark the column upon receipt and can be reordered as a separate part for continued monitoring. Each batch of digestion standard is prepared under strict quality control criteria confirmed on the included certificate of analysis.

Based on Waters Ethylene Bridged Hybrid (BEH) particle technology, CSH particles incorporate a low level surface charge that improves sample loadability and peak asymmetry in low-ionic-strength mobile phases, while maintaining the mechanical and chemical stability inherent in the BEH particle technology.

The particles and chemistries of the ACQUITY UPLC column family were carefully chosen to produce the ideal combination of ultra-performance efficiencies, wide pH range and complementary selectivities. There is more to creating a UPLC particle than synthesizing a small particle. Many HPLC particles do not possess the mechanical stability and structural integrity to withstand UPLC operating pressures (e.g., 15000 psi/1000 bar). Why is pressure tolerance important? In order to realize the efficiency gains of sub-2 μm particles, the ability to routinely operate at higher linear velocities (e.g., higher flow rates) is required. These higher linear velocities combined with small, sub-2 μm particles result in higher operating backpressures. Waters has created two highly efficient, pressure-tolerant UPLC particles: the 1.7 μm Ethylene Bridged Hybrid (BEH) particle and the 1.8 μm High Strength Silica (HSS) particle.
