ExSil® (Exmere) Exsil 100
Dr. Maisch Exsil 100 SCX, 5 µm, 100 Å, 100 g bulk Material for HPLC Columns
Product Number: 5136530.0100
- 100 Å
- 0.52 cc/g
- 208 m2/g
- Type A Silica and Bonded Phases
- Alternative to Spherisorb
- Available in 1.5, 3, 5 and 10 μm particle sizes.
- Widest range of bonded phases.
The original Exsil 100 range was developed to provide an alternative to Spherisorb type products. The extensive range of bonded phases includes novel phases such as the ODS-B and Octyl-B which are so deactivated that they can chromatograph strong bases in buffer free eluents. The range of phases continues to provide a comprehensive selection for all standard applications.
- Strong Cation Exchange (SCX): A type of ion exchange chromatography where the stationary phase (the column packing material) has a strong negative charge (e.g., sulfonic acid groups).
- Mechanism: Positively charged molecules in a sample bind to the negatively charged column, while neutral or negatively charged molecules pass through.
- Separation: By changing the solution conditions (e.g., pH, ionic strength), the bound molecules can be eluted (released) from the column, allowing for separation.
- Biomolecule Analysis and Purification: SCX is crucial for separating and purifying proteins, peptides, and other charged biomolecules.
- Monoclonal Antibody (mAb) Characterization: It is used to separate and analyse different charge variants of mAbs, which can be indicative of product quality.
- Peptide Mapping: SCX can be combined with other separation techniques (like reversed-phase chromatography) to create comprehensive peptide maps.
- Sample Preparation: SCX solid-phase extraction (SPE) cartridges are used to isolate and purify specific molecules from complex mixtures.
- Exsil 100: Columns with a pore size of 100 Å Angstroms (10 nm)
