This is the world’s first 2µ non-porous column. This extremely efficient material works very well for separation of large molecules like polymers, surfactants, protein and even DNA. It has a wide effective analysis range from 5kDa to 50 MDa. Since it does not have any pores, there is essentially no band broadening due to mass transfer effect and no size limit for the compounds that it can retain. We believe so strongly in the value of non-porous columns that we intend to develop an entire line of non-porous columns in the future.
- The only 2µ Non-Porous ODS column on the market
- Very high efficiency column
- No band broadening due to reduced mass transfer effect
- Monodispersed particle bed reduces eddy diffusion effect
- Can analyze a wide range of compounds from peptides to large polymers
- 20 kDa to 30 MDa
- Reversed-phase separation for bio- and synthetic-polymers up to 30 MDa
- Ideal column for protein and large polymer separations
Imtakt has developed a novel 2um non-porous high resolution ODS column. There are several shortcomings for porous ODS columns for polymer separation:
- Poor peak shape of solutes due to wide range in pore size distribution
- Poor recovery of solutes due to micro-pores and meso-pores
- Reduced column efficiency due to high mass transfer resistance
Presto FF-C18 can overcome these shortcomings for polymer separation. This high resolution, non-porous ODS column is quite different from conventional ODS columns, and will create new opportunities for 21st century separation science.
Suitable for the following:
Peptides
Presto FF- C18 performs exceptionally well with amino ac id residue recognition for peptides and protein s eparations. The number of peaks for Presto FF- C18 is twice that of porous ODS - and shows improved recovery for peptides and proteins due to lac k of mic ro- pores. The 250mm length Presto FF- C18 (2um partic le) column will be an important tool for high resolution peptide and protein s eparations.
Polypeptides and Proteins
Presto FF- C18 excels at (different) peptide bond struc ture recognition. It is us eful for a wide range of molecular weight s eparations - from small peptides to large proteins.
Medical Related Proteins
Presto FF- C18 also offers excellent results for medic al related proteins. The more traditional modes of s eparation for proteins, IEX or S EC, c an be replaced with revers ed- phas e using non- porous ODS .
Polysaccharides (Ionic)
Presto F F - C 18 (non- porous ODS ) c an be us eful for polys ac c haride s eparations. In comparison to S EC columns, Presto FF- C18 c an achieve sharper peaks using gradient elution, making RP the preferred mode for quantitative analysis.
Polysaccharides (Ionic)
Presto FF- C18 is us eful for polys ac charide analysis.
Non-Ionic Polysaccharides
Presto FF- C18 s eparates polys ac charides and does so with sharper peaks and lower cost than S EC columns.
Nucleic Acids
Presto FF- C18 c an analyze nuc leic ac ids. Historic ally, nuc leic ac ids have been difficult to analyze by HPLC, due to the extremely large size of thes e biopolymers. The non- porous ODS , Presto FF- C18, makes this possible.
Synthetic Polymers (Hydrophilic)
Presto FF- C18 c an achieve better peak shape for s ynthetic polymers, which have traditionally been analyzed on S EC mode. In addition, peak width under RP mode is dependent upon molecular size distribution.
Synthetic Polymers (Hydrophobic)
Presto FF- C18 c an be applied to hydrophobic polymer analysis. The solubility and elution properties of the solute need to be taken into ac count when preparing the mobile phas e. There is an opportunity to reduce costs and convert the current GPC method to an RP method with Presto FF- C18.
Small Compounds
Due to its extremely low s urfac e area (non- porous), Presto F F - C 18 is us ually not recommended for small molecule analysis. However, depending on the solute struc ture, nonporous ODS c an be advantageous for small molecule s eparations.
